The Nobel Prize is a set of international awards which are widely regarded as the most prestigious awards given for intellectual achievement in the world. They are awarded annually from a fund bequeathed for that purpose by the Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Bernhard Nobel. The Nobel Prizes are conferred in six disciplines. Due to some controversy Literature Prize is not being given this year. The Nobel Peace Prize winners are being selected by the Norwegian Nobel Committee. The recipient of the Nobel Prize for 2018 are listed below:- 1. October 1, 2018—Dr. James P. Allison of USA and Dr. Tasuku Honjo of Japan won the Nobel Prize 2018 in Physiology or Medicine jointly on October 1, 2018 for their discovery of cancer therapy by inhibition of negative immune regulation. 2. Heat Heat is the transfer of energy from a hot body. The sense of touch can be used to understand the degree of hotness or coldness of something. But the sense of touch is not reliable and cannot be always used to say how much hot anything is. Moreover, using the sense of touch can be risky in case of something very hot. Thus, hotness of anything is measured in terms of TEMPERATURE in reliable way. To measure temperature a device called THERMOMETER is used. Unit of heat: There are three units which are used to measure the temperature: Degree Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin. Degree Celsius : Degree Celsius is written as °C and read as degree Celsius or simply Celsius. For example 20°C; it is read as twenty degree Celsius.
